 A simple recipe for a classic, moist, and delicious chocolate cake:



Ingredients:


For the cake:


1. 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

2. 1 ½ cups granulated sugar

3. 2 teaspoons baking powder

4. 1 teaspoon salt

5. 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

6. 1 cup whole milk, at room temperature

7. 2 large eggs, at room temperature

8. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


For the chocolate buttercream frosting:


1. 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

2. 2 cups confectioners' sugar

3. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4. 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

5. 4 ounces of high-quality dark or semisweet chocolate, melted


Equipment:



1. Two 9-inch round cake pans

2. Non-stick cooking spray or parchment paper

3. Electric mixer (stand or handheld)

4. Whisk

5. Rubber spatula

6. Measuring cups (dry and liquid)

7. Measuring spoons

8. Oven thermometer


Instructions:



1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).

2. Prepare the pans and mix the dry ingredients.

3. Combine the wet ingredients and add to the dry ingredients.

4. Mix until smooth, then divide the batter evenly in the pans.

5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

6. Let the cakes cool, then frost with the chocolate buttercream.
